After weather had twice forced postponement, the annual MYC Fishing Competition finally got underway on Sunday January 29. And the day was worth the wait. Clear skies, flat seas and just the right amount of wind resulted in a great turn out as over a dozen boats pushed out early morning. All that was required now was for the fish to co-operate! And for some they did. Everyone returned with enough fish for dinner, most of the fleet recording healthy catches - 23 the best return from Ian Jeffrey, Perry Larsson and Norm Brash. The heaviest fish caught on the day was a thumping 900gm salmon caught by one of the junior fishermen - William Holdsworth. In fact juniors made up a large proportion of the fleet and the 3 largest fish for the day were all caught by junior members. For a list of all the results, see the table below/above. Special thanks go to Dave Dann and Steve McVeigh for the efforts on the day and organising of trophies and prizes respectively.
